What is Relative Intensity?

Relative Intensity is a measure used in strength training to compare the intensity of a given lift to the maximum intensity (one rep max) that can be achieved. It is calculated by dividing the percentage of your one rep max by the percentage intensity of the rep.

Example Calculation 1

Let's assume the following values:

Step 1: Use the formula:

\[ \text{RI} = \frac{90}{80} = 1.125 \]

The Relative Intensity is 1.125.

Example Calculation 2

Let's assume the following values:

\[ \text{RI} = \frac{85}{75} = 1.13 \]
