Calculate Quality Point Average (QPA)

Formula

The formula to calculate the Quality Point Average (QPA) is:

\[ QPA = \frac{QP}{CH} \]

Where:

The quality points themselves are calculated using the following formula:

\[ QP = CH \cdot G \]

Where:

What is QPA?

QPA is defined as the ratio of quality points earned to credit hours earned. QPA is a metric used in education to better understand how a student performed in a given semester.

What’s the difference between GPA and QPA? GPA and QPA are both used in similar ways, but while a GPA is the average of the grade points of all classes, a QPA is the average of the grade points times the credit hours of each class, then divided by the total number of credit hours.

Example Calculation

Let's assume the following values:

Using the formula to calculate the Quality Point Average (QPA):

\[ QPA = \frac{45}{15} = 3.00 \]

The Quality Point Average (QPA) is 3.00.
