The formula to calculate Non-HDL Cholesterol is:
\[ \text{Non-HDL} = \text{TC} - \text{HDL} \]
Where:
Non-HDL cholesterol is a measure of the "bad" cholesterol in your body. It includes low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol and very low-density lipoprotein (VLDL) cholesterol, both of which can build up in the walls of your arteries and increase your risk of heart disease and stroke. Non-HDL cholesterol is calculated by subtracting your high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol, the "good" cholesterol, from your total cholesterol.
Example 1:
Using the formula:
\[ \text{Non-HDL} = 200 - 50 = 150 \text{ mg/dL} \]
Example 2:
Using the formula:
\[ \text{Non-HDL} = 180 - 40 = 140 \text{ mg/dL} \]
