The formula to calculate the Attack Rate (A) is:

\[ A = \frac{NC}{PE} \times 100 \]

Where:

What is an Attack Rate?

An attack rate is defined as the ratio of people that become sick after being exposed to a disease to the number of people exposed. It is a measure used in epidemiology to understand the spread of diseases during outbreaks.

Example Calculation

Consider an example where:

Number of Cases (NC): 50
Number of People Exposed (PE): 200

Using the formula to calculate the Attack Rate:

\[ A = \frac{50}{200} \times 100 = 25 \% \]

This means that the attack rate for this example is 25%.
