Calculate Sugar Content in Wine

Formula

To calculate the Sugar Content in Wine:

\[ SC = \frac{V \times D \times (1 - \frac{ABV}{100})}{1.093} \]

What is Wine Sugar?

Wine sugar, also known as residual sugar, refers to the natural sugar from grapes that remains after the fermentation process in winemaking. During fermentation, yeast consumes sugar and produces alcohol.

Example Calculation 1

Let's assume the following values:

Using the formula:

\[ SC = \frac{10 \times 1000 \times (1 - \frac{12}{100})}{1.093} = \frac{10 \times 1000 \times 0.88}{1.093} \approx 8056.54 \]

The sugar content is approximately 8056.54 g/L.

Example Calculation 2

Let's assume the following values:

Using the formula:

\[ SC = \frac{5 \times 900 \times (1 - \frac{14}{100})}{1.093} = \frac{5 \times 900 \times 0.86}{1.093} \approx 3540.62 \]

The sugar content is approximately 3540.62 g/L.
