What is a Tincture Ratio?

A tincture ratio refers to the proportion of herbs to alcohol or other solvent used in the process of making a tincture. This ratio is crucial as it determines the concentration and potency of the final product. For instance, a 1:5 tincture ratio means that for every one part of herb, five parts of solvent are used. The type of herb and the desired strength often dictate the appropriate tincture ratio.

Example Calculation

Let's assume the following values:

Volume of the Herb ((VH)) = 50 ml
Total Volume of the Tincture ((VT)) = 250 ml

Using the formula:

\[ TR = \left( \frac{50}{250} \right) \times 100 = 20 \]
