Shingle Weight Calculator

Formula

The formula to calculate the shingle weight is:

\[ SHW = LS \times WS \times 2.75 \]

What is Shingle Weight?

The shingle weight is the total weight of a shingle based on its dimensions. It is calculated by multiplying the length and width of the shingle by a constant factor, which in this case is 2.75. This factor represents the weight per square foot of the shingle material.

Example Calculation

Example 1:

Step 1: Multiply the length of the shingle by the width of the shingle:

\[ 3 \times 1 = 3 \]

Step 2: Multiply the result by the weight constant (2.75):

\[ 3 \times 2.75 = 8.25 \]

The Shingle Weight (SHW) is 8.25 lbs.

Example 2:

Step 1: Multiply the length of the shingle by the width of the shingle:

\[ 4 \times 2 = 8 \]

Step 2: Multiply the result by the weight constant (2.75):

\[ 8 \times 2.75 = 22 \]

The Shingle Weight (SHW) is 22 lbs.
