Formula

The formula to calculate the R-Value of Rockwool insulation is:

\[ R = \frac{T}{A \times \Delta T} \]

Where:

( T ) is the thickness of the insulation (inches)
( A ) is the area of the insulation (square feet)
( \Delta T ) is the temperature difference across the insulation (°F)

Definitions

R-Value: The resistance to heat flow of Rockwool insulation. A higher R-value indicates greater insulating power.

Example

Let's say the thickness of the insulation (T) is 6 inches, the area of the insulation (A) is 100 square feet, and the temperature difference (ΔT) is 30°F. Using the formula:

\[ R = \frac{6}{100 \times 30} = 0.002 \]

We get an R-Value of 0.002 ft²·°F·hr/Btu.
