Formula

The formula to calculate the predicted Y value is:

\(Y = \beta1 \times X + \beta0\)

Where:

Y is the predicted Y value based on the regression equation
\(\beta1\) is the slope of the regression line
\(\beta0\) is the intercept of the regression line
X is the independent variable value

Example Calculations

Example 1:

Slope (β1): 2
Intercept (β0): 5
Independent Variable (X): 10

Calculation:

\(Y = 2 \times 10 + 5 = 20 + 5 = 25\)

Example 2:

Slope (β1): 3
Intercept (β0): 2
Independent Variable (X): 7

Calculation:

\(Y = 3 \times 7 + 2 = 21 + 2 = 23\)
