The formula to calculate the Pipe Ovality (O) is:

What is Pipe Ovality?

Pipe ovality is a ratio that measures how much a pipe appears to be an oval shape, or in other words, the measure of eccentricity with respect to the nominal diameter. It indicates the degree to which a pipe deviates from being perfectly circular, which is important for ensuring proper fit and function in piping systems.

Example Calculation

Let's assume the following values:

Maximum Outer Diameter (Max OD) = 105 mm
Minimum Outer Diameter (Min OD) = 95 mm
Nominal Outer Diameter (Nom OD) = 100 mm

Using the formula to calculate the Pipe Ovality (O):

\[ O = \left(\frac{Max OD - Min OD}{Nom OD}\right) \times 100 = \left(\frac{105 - 95}{100}\right) \times 100 = 10 % \]

The Pipe Ovality (O) is 10 %.
