Formula

The formula to calculate the Heat Exchanger Area (A) is:

\[ A = \frac{C}{k \cdot \Delta T} \]

Where:

\(A\) is the heat exchanger area (ft²)
\(C\) is the heat exchanger capacity (btu/h)
\(k\) is the heat transfer coefficient (btu/ft²*h*°F)
\(\Delta T\) is the temperature difference (°F)

Example Calculation

Let's assume the following values:

Heat Exchanger Capacity (C) = 5000 btu/h
Heat Transfer Coefficient (k) = 50 btu/ft²*h*°F
Temperature Difference (ΔT) = 20 °F

Using the formula to calculate the Heat Exchanger Area:

\[ A = \frac{5000}{50 \cdot 20} = 5 \text{ ft}^2 \]

The Heat Exchanger Area is 5 ft².
