To calculate the Golf Index (GI):

\[ GI = \frac{96 \times AGS}{N} \]

Where:

\(GI\) is the Golf Index
\(AGS\) is the Adjusted Gross Score (sum of the lowest scores on record)
\(N\) is the number of rounds played

What is a Golf Index?

A Golf Index is a standardized measurement used to calculate a golfer’s potential skill level. It is not an average of all scores, but rather an indication of potential ability based on the best scores. The Golf Index is used to level the playing field, allowing golfers of different skill levels to compete against each other. It is calculated using a complex formula that takes into account factors such as course difficulty and weather conditions.

Example Calculation 1

Let's assume the following values:

Adjusted Gross Score (\(AGS\)) = 72
Number of Rounds Played (\(N\)) = 10

Using the formula:

\[ GI = \frac{96 \times 72}{10} = 691.2 \]

The Golf Index is 691.2.

Example Calculation 2

Let's assume the following values:

Adjusted Gross Score (\(AGS\)) = 85
Number of Rounds Played (\(N\)) = 15

Using the formula:

\[ GI = \frac{96 \times 85}{15} = 544 \]

The Golf Index is 544.
