Calculate Antenna Beamwidth

Formula

The formula to calculate the Antenna Beamwidth is:

\[ BW = 70 \cdot \frac{WL}{D} \]

Where:

What is Antenna Beamwidth?

Beamwidth is a measure of the directivity of an antenna. It is the angle between the half-power (-3 dB) points of the main lobe, which is the part of the radiation pattern with the highest power.

Example

Let's say you have a wavelength (WL) of 0.5 meters and a diameter (D) of 2 meters. Using the formula:

\[ BW = 70 \cdot \frac{0.5}{2} = 17.5 \]

So, the beamwidth (BW) would be 17.5 meters.
