What is Taper Tension?

Taper Tension is the tension applied to a roll of material as it is being wound or unwound. It is calculated by dividing the roller torque by the current radius of the roll. This helps in maintaining consistent tension throughout the winding process.

Example Calculation

Example 1:

Roller Torque (T): 50 N-m
Current Radius of the Roll (r): 0.5 m

Step 1: Calculate the Taper Tension:

\[ TPT = \frac{50}{0.5} = 100 \text{ N} \]

Example 2:

Roller Torque (T): 75 N-m
Current Radius of the Roll (r): 0.75 m
