The formula to calculate the Rivet Length is:

\[ RL = T1 + T2 + 1.5 \times D \]

Where:

\( RL \) is the Rivet Length (in)
\( T1 \) is the Thickness of Material 1 (in)
\( T2 \) is the Thickness of Material 2 (in)
\( D \) is the Diameter of the Rivet Stem (in)

What is Rivet Length?

Rivet length is the total length of a rivet needed to fasten two materials together. It is calculated by adding the thicknesses of both materials and one and a half times the diameter of the rivet stem.

Example Calculation

Let's assume the following values:

Thickness of Material 1 (T1): 0.5 in
Thickness of Material 2 (T2): 0.75 in
Diameter of Rivet Stem (D): 0.25 in

Using the formula to calculate the rivet length:

\[ RL = 0.5 + 0.75 + 1.5 \times 0.25 = 1.625 \text{ in} \]

The rivet length is 1.625 inches.
