Retic Index Calculator

Formula

To calculate the Retic Index:

RI=RBC×HCT×MCV100

What is a Retic Index?

A Retic Index, or Reticulocyte Index, is a medical measurement used to evaluate the rate at which new red blood cells (reticulocytes) are produced and released by the bone marrow. This index is often used in diagnosing and monitoring conditions such as anemia or bone marrow disorders. A high Retic Index indicates an increased production of red blood cells, while a low index may suggest a decreased production.

Example Calculation 1

Let's assume the following values:

Step 1: Multiply the RBC by the HCT and the MCV:

RBC×HCT×MCV=5×45×90=20250

Step 2: Divide the result by 100:

RI=20250100=202.50

Example Calculation 2

Let's assume the following values:

Step 1: Multiply the RBC by the HCT and the MCV:

RBC×HCT×MCV=4.5×40×85=15300

Step 2: Divide the result by 100:

RI=15300100=153.00
