To calculate the percent mixture:

\[ \text{PM} = \frac{X}{Y} \times 100 \]

Where:

\(\text{PM}\) is the Percent Mixture
\(X\) is the mass/volume/etc of the substance
\(Y\) is the mass/volume/etc of the solution

What is a Percent Mixture?

A percent mixture is a term used to describe the ratio of one individual substance in a greater mixture of other substances. These are most often compounds within a solution, but they could also be solid objects in a mixture of other solid objects.

Example Calculation 1

Let's assume the following values:

Mass/Volume of the Substance (\(X\)) = 50 units
Mass/Volume of the Solution (\(Y\)) = 200 units

Using the formula:

\[ \text{PM} = \frac{50}{200} \times 100 = 25\% \]

The Percent Mixture is 25%.

Example Calculation 2

Let's assume the following values:

Mass/Volume of the Substance (\(X\)) = 75 units
Mass/Volume of the Solution (\(Y\)) = 300 units

Using the formula:

\[ \text{PM} = \frac{75}{300} \times 100 = 25\% \]

The Percent Mixture is 25%.
