The formula to calculate the net weight is:

\[ NW = GW - TW \]

Where:

\(NW\) is the net weight of the item
\(GW\) is the gross weight (total weight including item and packaging/container)
\(TW\) is the tare weight (weight of the packaging/container)

What is Net Weight?

Net weight is the weight of the actual product without any additional packaging, containers, or any other materials that are not part of the product itself. It is a crucial measurement in shipping, logistics, and sales to ensure customers are charged accurately for the product they are purchasing.

Example Calculation

Let's assume the following values:

Gross Weight (GW) = 10 kg
Tare Weight (TW) = 2 kg

Using the formula:

\[ NW = 10 - 2 = 8 \text{ kg} \]

The Net Weight (NW) is 8 kg.
