Example Calculation

Example 1:

Step 1: Subtract the start year from the end year and multiply the result by 12:

\[ (2023 - 2020) \times 12 = 36 \]

Step 2: Subtract the start month from the end month and add the result to the previous calculation:

\[ 36 + (3 - 5) = 34 \]

The Months of Service (M) is 34 months.

Example 2:

Step 1: Subtract the start year from the end year and multiply the result by 12:

\[ (2021 - 2019) \times 12 = 24 \]

Step 2: Subtract the start month from the end month and add the result to the previous calculation:

\[ 24 + (12 - 1) = 35 \]
